BIENVENIDOS AMIGOS CHILENOS / WELCOME CHILEAN FRIENDS

The day has finally come for the student exchange between Colegio Concepción San Pedro, Episcopal of Baton Rouge, and LSU Lab School.  The first group are 20 Chilean high schoolers (19 students from Concepción and 1 from Santiago) who will be here from January 15, 2015 until January 31st, 2015.  During the trip there is a lot planned: both schools in the US have collaborated in planning a number of cultural and service activities including LSU Coastal Roots, painting bridge pillars, visiting plantation houses, going to a NBA basketball game, seeing New Orleans, and even having a swamp tour.  Besides all those fun "extra" curricular activities the students will also spend time in school going to classes and will stay with wonderful host families.  Later in the US, students from Baton Rouge will make the trip to Chile and continue the exchange.  How exciting!

This blog is for anyone interested in the trip, especially the Chilean and US families, the schools (teachers and administrators) the and the LSU partners.  Everyone is free to post -- we relaly want to see pictures and descriptions about what is going on while the students are here -- so US and Chilean students and host families please post away!  The more posts and pictures the better informed everyone can be about the experience.

To post to the blog you have to send an email request following a link on the blog -- just as soon do that we will add you so that you can begin posting to the blog.  Anyone can comment on posts even without signing up.  We just ask that you always identify yourself so we know who is talking.

El día ha llegado, por fin, para el intercambio de estudiantes entre Colegio Concepción San Pedro, Episcopal de Baton Rouge, y elColegio LSU Lab. El primer grupo son 20 estudiantes de secundaria chilenos (19 estudiantes de Concepción y 1 de Santiago) que estarán aquí a partir 15 de enero 2015 hasta el 31 de enero de 2015. Durante el viaje hay mucho planeado: las dos colegios en los EE.UU. han colaborado en la planificación de una serie de actividades culturales y actos de servicios, incluidas las plantacion de arboles con "Coastal Roots," pintando pilares de puentes, visitando casas de las plantaciones, ir a un partido de baloncesto de la NBA, al ver Nueva Orleans, y ni siquiera tener un tour de pantano. Además de todas las actividades "extra"curriculares de diversión, los estudiantes también pasarán tiempo en el colegio para ir a clases y se quedarán con familias maravillosas. Más tarde en al año, los estudiantes de Baton Rouge harán el viaje a Chile y continuar con el intercambio. ¡Qué emocionante!

Este blog es para cualquier persona interesada en el viaje, especialmente a las familias chilenas y estadounidenses, los colegios (profesores y administradores) y los socios de LSU. Todo el mundo es libre de publicar - nos queremos ver fotos y descripciones sobre lo que está pasando mientras los estudiantes están aquí - así que estudiantes de Episcopal, LAB,  los estudiantes chilenos y familias anfitrionas publicarlo por favor! Cuantos más mensajes e imágenes de la que todos estén mejor informados acerca de la experiencia.
